What is this site used for?

Shelter Insurance's Business to Business Portal is a secure website designed for companies that do business with Shelter or share some of the same customers.

The mortgage portal allows preauthorized users who are representing mortgage lenders the ability to securely view shared customers' policy information. This information includes the mortgagee clause as it is currently listed on the policy, coverages, and the current premium amount. It does not include personal information such as dates of birth or social security numbers. Currently we only verify coverage on home and dwelling policies, we do not provide information on auto policies.

What information can Shelter share with mortgage companies?

Shelter may share information about customer policies with some third parties in order to maintain and process customer accounts. Mortgagees who are listed on a policy of insurance may obtain information about the policy in order to protect their financial interest in the property. If a mortgagee requests information but is not listed on the policy Shelter requires that the policyholder give consent prior to sharing. Policyholder consent is not required when a mortgagee provides proper identification and the policyholder has entered into a mortgage agreement with the mortgagee that allows the mortgagee to be added and for information to be shared. When a mortgagee can provide the policyholder’s name, address and loan number policy information can be shared with the mortgagee based on the mortgagee’s insurable interest in the property.
